Some of us might be disappointed that in light of the current public health crisis, the pool has been closed until further notice. The closure was recommended by Bosshardt and the Board concurred with the recommendation. Although the CDC currently states that there is no evidence COVID-19 can be spread through well-maintained pool water, other factors such as the need for physical distancing and potential contamination of surfaces of tables, chairs, door handles, etc… in a public access setting were considered. In addition, we’re in a rapidly evolving situation where pool maintenance might be unexpectedly reduced or eliminated in response to pool service company staffing limitations or new restrictions on people movement, raising further health concerns about continued use of the pool. We hope we’ll all do our part, understand the rationale behind the decision, stay out of the pool and not get upset about it.
